6 Days and Counting...

Only 6 more days before leaving for Brother/Sister European Vacation 2011! Not that I'm counting or anything... Personally, I feel as though I well deserve a vacation. Especially with how much busier my schedule has gotten recently! Oh well though, I'm definitely learning a lot and feel happy with the results I've been seeing in the reading and math groups that I teach. A few of my Thursday Kindergartners are reading at a level H already. If you have no idea what that means, it's really good!!! Most Kindergartners are just beginning to learn to read and are at a levels A-C. It's been really fun to see how much the kids are progressing. It seems like in this 6 weeks after Christmas break that some of them are just really cruising and starting to take off. Anywho, everything else here has been going pretty well too. I got hit with some sort of stomach bug and was out on Monday but I'm back to my usual self now so that's good. Glad I got it over with before break I guess! I've really been taking it pretty easy this weekend. On Friday night Kat and I went to Lauren's house and the 3 of us made some really delicious tacos with some ground beef we picked up from the butcher. They were REALLY good and the butcher experience wasn't bad at all (Lauren and I were a little nervous to go because it looked intense in there) and the meat is so much better and cheaper than the grocery store! Yesterday I got outside and enjoyed the morning sun and 50 degree (yes, 50 degree!) weather. We've been really lucky here and Spring seems to be on it's way. The sun has been shining, buds are starting to form, and everyone seems to be a lot happier (the kids included) when it's warmer out! I'm just hoping it sticks around... Last Saturday night we also celebrated the birthdays of my roommate Jess & friend Erin. We had everyone over for cake and then went out to a Karaoke Bar (at the birthday girls request). It was an incredibly fun night and the homemade cakes that Jess V made were amazing!!

Even though this week is probably going to feel a bit long at school since it's the last week before break I'm also really excited for it! All of my after school classes are finished so I'll be able to stay ahead with my planning & get all of my little errands done. On Wednesday night Lauren & I are going to the Iron & Wine concert downtown, on Thursday Jonathan arrives and on Saturday we leave on vacation for the week! Here is our itinerary:

Friday: Work for Ashley & probably Brugge for Jonathan
Saturday: Take the early morning train to Amsterdam, Netherlands
Sunday night: Fly to Prague, Czech Republic
Wednesday night: Fly to Barcelona, Spain
Saturday night: Fly back to Brussels, Belgium
Sunday: Jonathan leaves :(

Should be an amazing week. I'm really excited about seeing some new places and just enjoying the time traveling. I hope everyone at home has a great week! Since I probably won't be posting until after break I just wanted to mention some birthdays that are either today or coming up soon. I hope you all have a wonderful day. Wish I could be there to celebrate with you all!

February 13th: Colleen Reid & David Olsen
February 26th: Mom (Sharon Tupper) & Brian Reid
